Feedback from clients in previous personal injury claims
At the end of each personal injury claim, the client is sent a feedback questionnaire, to assess the service provided.
The criteria in the feedback questionnaire are as follows:
- How approachable and friendly was the service?
- How well were you kept informed?
- How competent did you feel the service was?
- How concerned was the firm about your case?
- How well was the legal advice explained?
- Any other comments.
Set out below is a small selection of some of the feedback received, together with a brief description of the claim.
James Davies suffered injuries while in a bookmaker's shop in Birmingham.
Without any warning, a radiator suddenly fell from the wall and onto his legs, causing injuries to his shins. These became infected and he subsequently spent a number of days in hospital.
A personal injury claim was made on his behalf, and court proceedings were issued. Settlement was finally achieved upon the acceptance of a payment into court.

Lorna Draper was in a bowling hall in Leamington Spa with her boyfriend on her 18th birthday.
The floor was slippery, as a result of which she slipped and fell over. In doing so, her front teeth struck the bowling ball, and this necessitated a long and painful period of dental reconstruction.
She sought legal advice and a claim was started. Liability was strenuously denied by the defendants' Liverpool solicitors, and proceedings were issued. Settlement was finally achieved very close to trial.

Maureen Fair suffered an accident at work while carrying out her duties as a welder at a workshop in Birmingham, when a heavy item of equipment fell onto her foot.
A personal injury claim was made on her behalf, on the basis that the workplace was cluttered and the system of housekeeping was inadequate.

Peter Foster was knocked off his bicycle by a car in Kingstanding, North Birmingham, suffering a soft tissue injury to his ankle.
As an elderly individual this caused him a good deal of inconvenience. His compensation claim was brought to a successful conclusion without the need for court proceedings.

Philip Adderley suffered injuries in an accident at work while employed by firm that collected waste from hospitals.
While performing his duties at a hospital in the Midlands Mr Adderley picked up a hospital refuse sack, from which a used hypodermic syringe was protruding. This puntured his skin.
A damages claim was made, on the basis that the hospital was at fault for failing to dispose of the syringe in a special "sharps container".
Mr Adderley was subsequently found to have suffered no ill effects from the accident, although he suffered a good deal of anxiety for several months.
He awarded the firm 10/10 in each of the above evaluation categories. He also wrote: "I find this company to be totally professional in service, with a high moral standards towards its clients".
John Goldsmith suffered injuries in an accident at work while working in a supervisory capacity at a large factory in Birmingham, producing plastic components.
One of the machines was defective, due to the safety mat being absent. As a result of this defect, the machine deployed while he was adjusting it, causing him to suffer a blow to the face when part of the machine swung out and hit him.
On settlement, Mr Goldsmith awarded the firm 10/10 in each of the above evaluation categories. He also wrote: "I could not fault the service in any way, and I felt at ease throughout. The whole thing took less than 10 months to reach a settlement".
Christopher Harper suffered injuries in an accident at work when employed by a haulage company in Solihull.
On the day of the accident, he was working with three co-workers when they removed the crash bars from the side of a lorry. While doing so, the crash bars became loose suddenly, causing two of his fingers to become crushed.
Proceedings were issued, and the case ran nearly as far as trial before the defendants made a suitable settlement offer.

Amanda Long, a solicitor in the City of London, was involved in road traffic accident while travelling as a passenger in a car with her boyfriend on the North Circular Road.
Some vehicles ahead of them had come to a halt. Although she and her boyfriend stopped safely, they were struck from behind by another vehicle.
Liability was conceded early in the case, but agreement could not be reached as to suitable settlement offer. For this reason court proceedings were started, following which an improved offer was quickly made.

Shahzad Manzoor was slowing for red traffic lights, when his car was struck from behind by a coach. He and his wife both suffered whiplash injuries.
