  • Educated at Eastbourne Grammar School
  • 1980-2: Volunteer at Kibbutz Be'eri, Israel, followed by work and then travel in Europe and India
  • 1982-5: BA Degree in Development Studies (a multidisciplinary study of the issues faced by developing nations) at UEA
  • 1985-6: Masters Degree in Middle East Politics at Exeter University (SERC Scholarship Winner)
  • 1986-7: Journalist/sub-editor at Al-Awda, Palestine Press Services, East Jerusalem, Israel/Palestine
  • 1988-90: Common Professional Examination and Law Society Finals at Newcastle upon Tyne Polytechnic (now Northumbria University)
  • 1991-3: Articled clerk, then qualified solicitor at Lamport Bassitt, specialising in asbestos related compensation claims
  • 1993-7: Solicitor at national Trade Union law firm Thompsons, with particular experience of back injury claims caused by unsafe lifting
  • 1997-2000: Solicitor and team leader at Irwin Mitchell, dealing with full range of personal injury claims, including accidents abroad
  • 2000: Started own specialist personal injury legal practice, originally in Birmingham, focusing on workplace injury compensation claims
  • 2001 onwards: Senior Litigator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and member of APIL Occupational Health Special Interest Group
  • 2001: Joint founder member and past Vice-Chairman of Birmingham Sole Practitioners Group
  • 2001-3: SPG Representative on Birmingham Law Society Council
  • 2003: Voted "Sole Practitioner of the Year" by Birmingham Law Society members at awards ceremony at International Convention Centre
  • 2004: Firm was awarded Lexcel, the Law Society's quality mark for excellence in practice management
  • 2005: Elected Council Member and as a Director of Hampshire Incorporated Law Society (HILS)
  • 2010 onwards: Current serving chair of HILS mentoring sub-committee
